Education

I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education. My major was in Science and a minor in Math. I also attended the Community College of the Air Force. I have passed the High School Broad Field Science GACE Tests. I also hold a Reading Endorsement. I have attended several workshops sponsored by VSU that include: The Math Science Partnership, Evolutionary Biology, Evolution in today’s classroom, Sapelo Island summer workshop, Cumberland Island summer workshop, Botany Boot Camp, and The Georgia Science Teacher's Conference. Each of these has better prepared me to teach in the field of high school science.

I am currently in the Master's Degree program at VSU to get my Administration Degree. I love working with students but I would also like to work more with teachers to bring out their best in their classrooms.

Experience

I am going into my 11th year of teaching. I taught for 4 of those years in the Middle School setting teaching Math and Reading. The last 6 years have been spent at the High School level where I've been teaching Anatomy&Physiology for Wiregrass but in the high school,  Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science and Zoology. I was also a Teacher Advisor for VSU's Sapelo Island student teacher summer workshops.

I am one of the Senior Sponsors for ECHS. We help guide seniors through their final year of high school. We have numerous mandatory meetings throughout the school year. Those meetings are very important for getting seniors the important information for their graduation. We will meet concerning Jostens and ordering Cap & Gowns, Grad-Bash, Baccalaureate and Graduation practices and ceremony dates and times.

I have recently retired from coaching after 11 years. I have coached boys and girls soccer, softball, baseball, and cross country.

Bio

I have lived in the Valdosta area since my Dad was stationed at Moody AFB in 1986. I attended and graduated from Lowndes High School in 1992. I’ve played soccer since I was kid in Athens Greece. I have also played for the Valdosta Soccer Club, formerly South Ga United and now UFA, and the Charleston AFB Soccer Team. I spent 4 years and 5 months in the United States Air Force as a Munitions Systems Journeyman. My job included working with most of the US Air Force's explosive products. I have been to numerous country's throughout the world and have seen a lot of historical places including the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, the ancient ruins of Athens Greece, Dachau; a Jewish Concentration Camp. I was stationed at Charleston AFB and Moody AFB where I was deployed to Kuwait City in 1998 for 3 months in support of Operation Southern Watch. Upon completion of my military service I worked as a government contractor at Moody AFB for L3 Communications.

I have a wonderful wife of 24 years and 4 great children that keeps me quite busy. My wife is also a teacher at Hahira Elementary School. I like to stay active and try to do a large amount of running. However, that has been sidelined by a near death experience in July of 2019. Now, I look at life differently and thank God above everyday for saving my life.

My desire to become a teacher was also of divine inspiration, which I consider my area of ministry. I love teaching and seeing my students excel beyond what they think their abilities are. I also love the scientific world and being able to explore the world that God gave us. I hope to bring real life experiences and examples to my students to enhance their learning. I believe it is my job to bring out the best in each student so they may achieve their goals.
